Turkey will host NATO leaders in Ankara for the alliance’s 36th summit of heads of state and government.
Leaders from all 32 NATO members are expected, including US President Donald Trump. Foreign ministers, defence ministers and senior allied officials will also attend.
Partners from Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea are also due to take part, bringing Indo-Pacific security issues into the talks.
The agenda is expected to include defence burden-sharing, NATO’s defence industry and crisis response. A defence industry forum will be part of the official summit programme for the first time.
Turkey plans to deploy more than 56,000 police and gendarmerie officers for security, while cyber teams will monitor digital threats. About 3,000 journalists have applied for accreditation.
