Work to remove hanging street cables starts in September

Work to remove hanging cables from Albanian cities is expected to start in September.

The first phase will begin in July and August, when institutions and municipalities identify the areas where the problem is most visible.

The focus will be on city centres, tourist areas, main roads and important public spaces.

The project aims to remove unused cables, tidy existing networks and move more lines underground.

Newer residential complexes already have underground cable systems.

Older neighbourhoods still have many visible power and communication lines.

The work will be carried out gradually with municipalities, infrastructure authorities and telecom operators.

The government says the aim is to make cities cleaner, safer and better organised.
