An Albanian man wanted over a suspected drug trafficking and money laundering network has opposed extradition from Greece.
Ilir Shtufi, 53, was arrested in Thessaloniki on an Interpol Red Notice issued at Albania’s request.
Greek media said Shtufi denied the allegations when he appeared before appeal prosecutors in the city.
Albania wants him on suspicion of money laundering, involvement in a criminal organisation and drug trafficking. The case relates to alleged activity in Tirana in 2020.
A Greek court ordered him to remain in custody while judges consider Albania’s extradition request.
Shtufi was arrested at a Thessaloniki hotel after Albanian and Greek authorities exchanged information through Interpol.
