Albanian authorities have launched a national surveillance initiative to police twenty public schools using artificial intelligence cameras.
Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro said that human staff need automated monitoring to identify and stop student conflicts before physical violence erupts.
The cameras will continuously scan school grounds and feed behavioral data to more than fifteen hundred security officers and psychologists.
While publicly acknowledging that the government does not want to raise surveilled children, she insisted that algorithmic monitoring is necessary to maintain campus safety.
Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the school installations as part of a wider state project to automate traffic control and public security nationwide.
