TIRANA, April 15 (TemA) – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced plans to overhaul road safety enforcement using real-time technology instead of traditional policing, aiming to reduce traffic accidents and ensure greater compliance.
Speaking on Monday, Rama said speed violations will be automatically detected, with fines issued digitally and immediately. “Drivers will get the fine on their phone, along with a message reminding them not to repeat the offense,” he said.
The new system will also identify uninsured vehicles and drivers flagged for serious violations, preventing them from using the roads.
Authorities say the move is designed to lower accidents and modernize traffic enforcement without relying on widespread physical checkpoints.
