Kosovo’s caretaker prime minister, Albin Kurti, said his Vetëvendosje party will lead the formation of the country’s next institutions once the final vote count is complete.
Kurti said ballots were still being counted, but called Vetëvendosje and its pre-election allies the clear winners.
He said talks on the next political steps should begin after the result is finalised.
Kurti also said he expected the new parliament and government to be formed without major difficulty.
But electing a new president will require talks with opposition parties. Under Kosovo’s rules, at least 80 MPs must take part in the secret ballot.
