NATO says it will reduce its peacekeeping force in Kosovo after an improvement in security.
KFOR has about 4,600 troops in the country. NATO has not said how many will be withdrawn or which countries will be affected.
“The current circumstances allow us to further optimise KFOR’s size and presence,” said Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s supreme allied commander Europe.
European diplomats had earlier said the United States wanted to reduce the number of American troops serving in KFOR.
The NATO-led mission has been in Kosovo since 1999, after the war with Serbia.
