Protest leaders clash at first meeting

An Albanian anti-government movement held its first national meeting today in Tirana. Instead of uniting, the gathering broke into loud arguments over who is in charge.

Activists met to plan their next steps against the government. But a sharp divide quickly appeared between older organizers and the young people who built the movement in the streets.

Many attendees complained that younger protesters were shut out of the discussion. One activist pointed out that almost everyone in the hall was over 45.

Tensions rose when leaders refused to hand over the microphone. One organizer defended the strict schedule and warned the crowd not to challenge their authority.

Despite the anger, the group agreed they must move beyond basic street rallies. One leader warned that months of similar protests in neighboring Serbia failed to change the government.
