EU to open all accession chapters with Albania in June

The European Commission will open all remaining chapters in Albania’s EU accession talks in June, signaling a major step forward in the country’s membership bid.

BRUSSELS, 27 May 2025 – The European Commission will open all negotiation chapters with Albania next month, marking a key milestone in the country’s path toward EU membership.

Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos announced the move at a European Studies Center event in Brussels, noting that the decision reflects Albania’s progress on integration reforms.

“We’ve agreed to open another set of chapters in June, completing the opening of all negotiation chapters with Albania,” Kos said. “What follows is the equally important process of closing them.”

Kos praised the “extraordinary work” being done in Albania by both citizens and political leaders, signaling continued EU support for the country’s accession process.
