July 19, 2024 — Albania will host the European Political Community Summit for the first time next year. Prime Minister Edi Rama announced this milestone on social media, highlighting it as a significant step in the country’s evolving international role.
Rama described the news as a testament to Albania’s growing stature on the global stage. “It’s remarkable that Albania, once considered a distant Balkan outpost, will now host a major European summit. This shows how far we’ve come,” he wrote.
The announcement came after the fourth European Political Community meeting, held in the UK, where Rama and Italian Prime Minister Meloni co-led discussions on migration. The summit in Albania, scheduled for 2025, will mark the fifth such gathering in the community’s history. These meetings bring together European leaders to address key issues affecting the continent.
