Kane sends England into World Cup last 16

Harry Kane scored twice in the final 15 minutes as England came from behind to beat DR Congo 2-1 and reach the World Cup last 16.

DR Congo took a surprise lead in the seventh minute through Brian Cipenga at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

England struggled for much of the match before Kane equalised with a header in the 75th minute and then scored the winner in the 86th.

The result sends England through to a last-16 tie against co-hosts Mexico.

DR Congo impressed early and came close to a bigger lead, but could not hold on against England’s late pressure.
