Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has again denied that police used a sonic weapon at a mass protest in Belgrade.
The protest was held on 15 March 2025.
During the rally, thousands of people suddenly ran from the street. Some later said they had heard a strange sound and felt a force pushing them.
Serbian authorities have denied using any such device.
Vučić said Russia’s FSB security service had checked Serbian police equipment and found that no “sound cannon” was used.
The issue returned after prosecutors opened an inquiry into claims that student protesters had discussed faking the incident before the rally.
Students rejected the claim and said it was an attempt to distract from what happened.
The EU, UN and European rights bodies have called for an independent investigation.
