Serbian extremists praise war criminal on Srebrenica anniversary

Far-right groups in Serbia have launched street and online campaigns denying the 1995 Srebrenica genocide and praising convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.

Extremists lit flares, painted graffiti, and used social media to call the atrocity a "myth" during the 31st anniversary of the massacre.

More than 8,000 Muslim men and boys were murdered by Bosnian Serb forces in 1995, in Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two.

While international courts ruled the killings a genocide, the Serbian government refuses to use the term—a stance human rights groups say emboldens nationalists.
