Online bank payments in Albania reach nearly €960m

Albanians made 4.2 million online banking payments in the first four months of the year, worth nearly €960m.

The Bank of Albania said the payments were made by phone or computer.

They included money transfers, taxes, utility bills, phone bills, fines and credit card payments.

In the first quarter of 2026, bank payments by individuals and businesses rose 22% from a year earlier to more than 16 million.

Card payments made up about 68% of all bank transactions.

The rise points to lower cash use.
