Govt dissolves fuel price watchdog

Finance minister, Deli Brahimaj on Monday announced the government's decision to dissolve the fuel price watchdog, which was established on March 12 after global fuel prices soared due to the war in Ukraine.

This agency was intended to prevent speculations by fuel companies. The watchdog was created at a time when, as a result of the war in Ukraine, a litre of diesel was sold at around 300 leks.

While the opposition has accused the government of protecting the interests of its clients, the government has considered this as the only mechanism to keep prices under control.
