
Albania’s tourism sector expanded by 12.4 percent in May as the country recorded a rise in both local and international visitors.
Official data shows international arrivals climbed by 12.7 percent compared to last year, while domestic tourism grew by 11.4 percent.
Travelers also extended their trips, pushing total overnight hotel stays up by eight percent.
Central Albania remained the most popular destination. The southern region followed in second place with 121,000 visitors as the summer season began.
Italy remains the primary source of foreign travelers, accounting for 19 percent of arrivals. Kosovo, Germany, France, and Poland followed as the next largest markets.
This sustained demand increased national hotel room occupancy to nearly 30 percent.
