TIRANA, Sept 21 (TemA) — Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF-Tirana) opens Sunday with Jim Jarmusch’s “Father Mother Sister Brother” at Millennium cinema, in a near-European premiere following Venice.
The 23rd edition runs Sept 21–27 across venues in Albania’s capital, with screenings and industry activities, organisers said.
Festival director Agron Domi said TIFF secured two showings of the Jarmusch title: an invitation-only opening and a ticketed screening on Sept 23.
The Focus strand will pay tribute to Icelandic filmmaker Rúnar Rúnarsson.
On closing night, TIFF will premiere the restored 1978 Albanian feature “Liri a vdekje.”
TIFF is Oscar-qualifying for short films; the top short becomes eligible for consideration at the 2025 Academy Awards and the European Film Awards.
Festival venues include Millennium cinema, Agimi Art Center, Kino Pyramid, Vila 31 x Art Explora, Babel Bookstore and Open Air Tirana.
