Skampa theater festival opens 27th edition

ELBASAN, Oct. 4 (TemA) — The Skampa International Theater Festival opened its 27th edition in Elbasan, bringing five days of live performance from nine troupes across Europe and the Balkans.

Running Oct. 2–6, the program features troupes from Türkiye — including the State Theatres of Ankara and Istanbul — as well as Greece, Kosovo, Lithuania, Serbia and Albania.

Opening night staged “Medea—Material,” Heiner Müller’s text presented in Turkish for the first time by the Ankara and Istanbul State Theatres. Organizers say the festival has hosted about 270 productions since its launch 27 years ago.
