US actor Robert Duvall, one of Hollywood’s most respected screen veterans, has died aged 95.
Duvall built a career spanning more than six decades, earning global acclaim for roles in The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Tender Mercies.
He won an Academy Award for Tender Mercies and received eight Oscar nominations in total. His early breakthrough came as the reclusive Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird, a largely silent role that marked him as a serious dramatic talent.
Over the years, Duvall collected two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild award. Known for his understated style and commanding presence, he became a defining figure of American cinema.
In later life, he lived quietly in Virginia with his wife, Luciana Pedraza. His performances remain among the most enduring in modern film history.
