Tirana, August 4, 2024 - The construction of the new National Theatre in Tirana is advancing rapidly, with the building’s foundation work now complete. Officials are optimistic that the structural framework will be finished by 2025.
Prime Minister Edi Rama took to social media to share the latest developments from the bustling construction site.
“Work continues on the construction of the New Theatre, a project that will bring back the magic of the theatrical stage to the heart of Tirana,” Rama wrote.
He highlighted the modern advancements fueling the project, adding, “With new investments and contemporary technology, we are building a place dedicated to art and culture, where the country’s most talented artists and beyond will perform.”
The ambitious project is being crafted by the prestigious international architecture firm, Bjarke Ingels Group, based in Denmark. Known for its innovative designs, the firm promises a striking new addition to Tirana’s skyline.
The National Theatre’s new building will feature a sleek, modern design and provide a unique cultural hub in the city. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, it aims to meet all the requirements for top-tier theatrical performances, ensuring that artists and audiences alike can enjoy a premier experience.
