New film commission aims to draw foreign studios

TIRANA, Nov. 19 (TemA) — Albania has created a national film commission to promote the country to international production companies, following what officials describe as rising interest in using Albania as a filming location.

National Film Center director Jonid Jorgji said broader industry shifts have led studios to look for new locations, and that Albania is positioning itself to benefit.

The Albania Film Commission will market the country abroad and serve as the main point of contact for foreign productions. Authorities are also preparing incentives and simpler procedures to attract large shoots.

Jorgji said work is also under way to expand the pool of local crew members to meet future demand.
