Government to revive cinemas with €1.4m

Albania will invest about €1.4 million to revive cinemas across the country in 2026, the government said.

The plan was announced by Culture minister Blendi Gonxhja, who said the funding aims to bring people back to movie theatres.

Around seven cinema halls nationwide will receive support. The money will be used to upgrade technology and improve seating and facilities.

The minister said the goal is to make cinemas more comfortable and attractive for audiences. He said the project will help bring film culture closer to local communities.

The investment is also expected to support Albania’s local film industry. Officials say it will create more opportunities for artists and film professionals.

The ministry said the programme is part of a wider effort to strengthen cultural life and public access to the arts.
