KORÇA, Nov. 15 — Albania and France will reopen the Franco-Albanian Lycée of Science and Innovation in Korça next year, restoring one of the country’s most historic schools after almost ninety years.
The project was confirmed on Thursday at the final meeting of the joint steering committee, attended by Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro and France’s ambassador Catherine Suard. Officials said the lycée has already cleared most curriculum requirements.
The school will offer a dual diploma: Albania’s state matura and the French baccalaureate, giving graduates direct access to universities across Europe.
Ambassador Suard said the initiative is close to completion. “Students will earn a double degree and continue their studies at leading European universities. It’s very good news for Albania’s future,” she said.
The original Lycée Français de Korça was one of Albania’s most influential schools in the early twentieth century, shaping a generation of intellectuals who later played key roles in cultural and political life.
