Bizet’s “Carmen” returns to Tirana stage

Bizet’s “Carmen” returned to the stage in Tirana last night with a new production at Albania’s National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

The hall was full as audiences welcomed the dramatic ballet, led by renowned Albanian ballerina Anbeta Toromani in the title role.

The production features new choreography by Amedeo Amodio, a new musical approach by Giuseppe Calì, and stage and costume design by Luisa Spinatelli.

Guest artists Alessandro Macario and Luca Curreli joined the theatre’s ballet troupe in the lead male roles.

The ballet will return on 9 and 10 May with a second cast.
