Paris, December 7, 2024 — US President-elect Donald Trump is set to meet French President Emmanuel Macron this afternoon for bilateral talks in Paris. The discussions are part of events marking the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, which was damaged by a fire in 2019.
The meeting will take place at the official presidential residence, according to Macron’s press office and the French embassy in Washington. Trump’s visit to France is his first international trip since winning the US presidential election last month.
In addition to meeting Trump, Macron will also host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit. Trump is expected to attend a ceremonial event marking the cathedral’s reopening later in the evening. The restoration of the historic Gothic landmark has taken several years.
It is unclear whether Trump will hold any additional political talks with other world leaders who are expected to attend the Notre Dame event.
