Police in Albania said on Friday that 47 new surveillance cameras erected illegally in the Durres region were found. According to police, these cameras had been put up to provide information for criminal purposes as well as to monitor the movements of police.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, 16 other cameras were found in the city of Vlora and the motives remain the same.
Illegal surveillance cameras were initially discovered in the northern city of Shkodra, where authorities there found 59 of them.
Under Albanian law, the installation of such cameras is a violation of the "Protection of personal data act" and constitutes interference in the private life of citizens.
