PRISTINA, Jan 15, 2025 – Four people have been charged in connection with the brutal murder of Liridona Ademaj, 30, who was found dead in a car in November 2023.
Her husband, Naim Murseli, is facing serious charges of “murder in co-perpetration,” along with Granit Plava and Kushtrim Kokalla, who have been charged with “murder” and “conspiracy to commit murder.”
A fourth suspect has been named, but their identity remains secret, with authorities saying it’s “not ethical” to reveal it yet.
Liridona’s tragic death sparked outrage across Kosovo. Initially, Murseli claimed she was killed during a failed robbery attempt, but investigators soon uncovered the truth. Prosecutor Javorka Perlinčević said there was a delay in filing charges due to a lack of clarity on the motive. “We reached out to Swedish authorities as Liridona had lived there for years,” Perlinčević explained.
Though full details of the motive remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that Liridona and Murseli had a troubled marriage, with financial struggles that ultimately led to the killing.
The murder has stirred up anger in Kosovo, with protests calling for justice. After Murseli’s arrest, Liridona’s family requested her body be reburied in her hometown, which was carried out in December 2023.
Her brother, Leonard, spoke out today: “It’s a tough day for us, but we hope justice will be served.”
Kosovo police report that 58 women have been murdered since 2010, making this case all the more important in the fight against domestic violence.
