Jan 3, 205 - Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulatos of the Orthodox Church of Albania, 95, has been transferred to Athens for intensive medical care following a significant decline in his health.
Greek media Protothema reported that Yannoulatos, who had been hospitalized in Tirana since December 30, was flown to Greece aboard an Air Force plane. Medical professionals have confirmed his condition is stable, though he suffered a gastric hemorrhage.
Admitted to Athens' Evangelismos Hospital
The Archbishop is now in the intensive care unit at Evangelismos Hospital, where he is being monitored by a specialized medical team. Despite the seriousness of his condition, doctors say his health remains under control.
Earlier, the Orthodox Church of Albania announced that Yannoulatos had been admitted to Tirana’s Hygeia Hospital due to a seasonal virus. At the time, a statement on his official Facebook page described his condition as stable and noted that doctors were optimistic about his recovery.
