Albanian police arrest a group of people smugglers

A group of people smugglers opened fire against Albanian police on the Albania-Kosovo border today as they were attempting to assist several illegal immigrants to cross the border.

The gang, comprised of Syrian and Algerian nationals, was identified near the village of Morina, on the border with Kosovo.

Authorities urged them to stop, but the gang members opened fire against Albanian police officers. Under these circumstances, Albanian and Kosovo police began chasing the six people smugglers and within a few hours, managed to arrest them.
