Albanian EOD team earns NATO certification after successful Latvia exercise

August 29, 2024 — A team of Albanian Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts from the engineering battalion of the Support Command has achieved NATO certification following a successful high-level training exercise in Latvia. The team demonstrated their advanced skills and techniques at the Adaži camp, showcasing their professionalism and expertise.

NATO’s official website highlighted the team’s impactful performance, noting their effective use of cutting-edge techniques and tools. The training involved a range of activities, including door-opening techniques, drone deployment for simulated threat packages, and the use of water cannon machinery to neutralize potential hazards.

"This practical training not only enhances our readiness but also underscores the importance of innovation and teamwork in maintaining security," said a NATO spokesperson. The exercise aimed to test various capabilities, including logistics support, EOD operations, engineering skills, troop transport, and equipment setup for special operations in mine clearance and ordnance disposal.

The Albanian EOD experts also focused on maintaining ordnance, planning and executing safe operations in contaminated areas, and managing logistical disposal of ordnance. Their efforts contribute significantly to securing and safely storing munitions.
