Albania begins procedures for an extradition treaty with UA

The Albanian Ministry of Justice has filed a request with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to launch the necessary procedures for an extradition treaty with the United Arab Emirates. This agreement would enable the extradition of criminals, their transfer and it would also include an agreement of cooperation in criminal matters.

Through this treaty, the Albanian authorities will try and address the issue of extraditions from Dubai. Recently, the Special Prosecution against Organised Crime and Corruption, otherwise known as SPAK, has had many difficulties in extraditing Albanian criminals from UAE as a result of the lack of such treaty.
