Afghan refugees in Albania are calling on former U.S. President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to suspend a key refugee program for three months, fearing their lives are at risk.
Speaking from Shëngjin, where many have sought safety, Lotfullah Ebadi, an Afghan who assisted U.S. forces, described the decision as "unfair" and life-threatening. "If America doesn’t help us, this will be the end of our lives. The Taliban knows who supported the U.S. military, and we can’t return to Afghanistan," Ebadi said.
Refugees are urging the U.S. to not only protect them but also rescue their families still trapped in Afghanistan. "Our relatives are in constant danger. The Taliban is targeting those who worked with the U.S., and their situation is unbearable," Ebadi added.
The suspension leaves hundreds of Afghans in limbo, terrified of being sent back to a country they describe as a death trap. (TemA)
