Jan 6, 2025 - Sali Berisha, leader of Albania’s opposition Democratic Party, appeared at SPAK today under an "obligation to appear" order related to the privatization of the former 'Partizani' complex.
While Berisha was only required to sign a document acknowledging that he had read and understood the official record, he submitted a rare written note condemning the prosecution’s actions.
In the note, Berisha called the prosecution’s actions a "shameful political act" and accused them of violating the constitution to silence his freedom of speech.
"This is a violation of the constitution," Berisha wrote. "The prosecution seeks to silence me, and a puppet judge made a decision based on their political agenda."
This direct response, which goes beyond the typical signing of documents in legal proceedings, has drawn attention as an unusual and provocative move from the former prime minister.
