Prime Minister Edi Rama says Albania’s EU future and anti-corruption push are at risk, as he campaigns in the coastal city of Vlora ahead of key elections.
Edi Rama is sounding the alarm: without the ruling Socialist Party, Albania’s path to the EU could fall apart.
Campaigning in Vlora, the prime minister said ongoing justice reforms—including the work of SPAK, the country’s special anti-corruption body—depend on his party staying in power.
Rama took aim at former prime minister and opposition leader Sali Berisha, who recently vowed to dismantle SPAK if elected. “Without us, there would be no SPAK, no justice reform,” Rama said. “Everything could be reversed in a day.”
He framed EU membership as the only guarantee of long-term democratic stability. “Under the EU umbrella, no leader can hijack the country’s path,” he added.
Rama also spotlighted his candidates in Vlora, calling them a fresh, diverse team representing every corner of the community. “No one will be left out,” he said.
For Rama, the message is simple: vote Socialist, or risk losing the progress made.
