Rama shuts down reports of Palestinian refugees in Albania

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has denied claims that the U.S. plans to send Palestinian refugees to Albania.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rama made it clear: “No one has contacted me, and as long as I’m in charge, we won’t accept Palestinians.”

His statement comes as migration and refugee issues dominate global debates. Reports of Albania hosting Palestinians had stirred controversy, but Rama dismissed them outright.

Albania has a history of sheltering refugees—hosting Afghans after the Taliban takeover in 2021 and Iranian dissidents before that. But this time, Rama is drawing a firm line.

With the world searching for solutions to the refugee crisis, Albania is sticking to its policies. For now, Palestinians won’t be part of the equation.
