Rama rejects claims over foreign resort workers

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has rejected claims that foreign-backed resorts in Albania will rely on low-paid workers from Asia.

Rama said the claim had “nothing to do with reality” and called it a “big lie”.

He said Albania’s tourism industry was still developing and needed trained workers at all levels.

The comments follow debate over foreign-backed resort projects and labour shortages in Albania’s tourism sector.

Rama said foreign interest in Albanian tourism had only recently begun, after years of little or no investment interest.
