Opposition leader,  Sali Berisha considered today's parliamentary session, where MPs are expected to vote the decision to increase the salary of the president, PM, ministers, MPs and public sector employees, hypocrisy.

Berisha said that pay increases should have started with the living wage, while announcing his vote against this increase.

According to the former PM, the introduction of a living wage will reduce poverty in the country and will fight inequalities.

The government has recently announced a plan which aims at increasing average salaries in the country to 900 euros a month. As part of this plan, the government has decided to introduce pay increases for 130 thousand public sercice employees and this increase will also apply to high ranking officials.

However, this decision has turned into a public debate. Many believe that the government, instead of increasing salaries for high ranking officials, should have increased pensions and salaries for low paid jobs.
