New coalition takes aim at ‘old politics’ with open-list campaign

The “Albania Deserves Better” coalition has introduced its candidates for the 11 May elections, vowing to break the grip of closed-list politics and open the door to real change.

Pledging to disrupt a system they say has failed the people, the “Albania Deserves Better” coalition has officially entered the race with a full slate of open-list candidates.

“We’ve burned the closed lists of the old guard,” said co-leader Adriatik Lapaj. “This is a new window of hope—an opportunity for ordinary people to step forward in a normal country.”

The coalition says its mission is clear: challenge the status quo, open up political competition, and give citizens a real voice in shaping their future.

“This is a tough fight,” Lapaj admitted. “But Albanians have no alternative but to win it. We’re here to break the system, defeat the old way, and deliver the historic change our country needs.”

By rejecting traditional closed-list politics, Albania Deserves Better positions itself as a grassroots alternative to a political class seen as stagnant and self-serving.
