Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama has concluded his speech at the UN Security Council meeting with an appeal for peace, reminding Russia that Kosovo is an independent country.
“You can try all you want, but Kosovo is an independent country and its independence has been sanctioned by the international criminal court, chapter 14 of the UN Charter. This court cannot act as a pretext for annexation of territories,” Rama said.
The UN Security Council meeting started with debates. Albanian prime minister, Edi Rama, who chaired the meeting, debated the representative of the Russian Federation.
The latter said he didn’t agree with the Ukrainian President, Volodymir Zelensky delivering a speech, accusing the UN Security Council of double standards.
Russia asked for Zelensky to speak after the representatives of the UN Security COuncil member countries. However, the Albanian PM told Russia’s representative that it was Moscow that made Ukraine so important in the global arena by starting a war.
“You stop the war and president Zelensky will not take the floor,” Rama told the representative of the Russian Federation.
On his part, the representative of the Russian delegation called on Rama to speak as chairman of the UN Security Council meeting and not as Prime Minister of Albania.
