Tirana, January 9, 2025 – Argita Malltezi, daughter of former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, appeared today before prosecutors for questioning regarding her public allegations against judge Irena Gjoka.
Malltezi is being investigated over claims she made in the media about the judge, who has been accused of corruption. After the interrogation, Malltezi spoke to the press, stating that her allegations were based on media reports and that it was the responsibility of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SPAK) to investigate further.
"I was summoned as someone who might have information on the case. SPAK has the authority to expand the investigation and uncover the truth," Malltezi said after leaving the prosecutor's office.
The investigation stems from a request made by Judge Gjoka to SPAK in October 2024, asking them to examine Malltezi’s claims that she had accepted a 500,000-euro bribe from a former member of the Socialist Party.
