Sources within the Freedom Party, which is the second largest opposition party in the country, say the party leader, Ilir Meta had planned a visit in Berlin today to attend the European Socialist Parties Congress.

TemA has managed to secure a screenshot of the official email that the Freedom Party has received from the Party of European Socialists, in which the party leader has been asked not to attend the congress due to his alliance with democrat leader, Sali Berisha, who has been designated by the US Department of State back in May last year for significant corruption and for undermining democracy.

The full email:

Dear Ilir, Thank you for your interest in the European Socialist Parties Congress, which will be held in Berlin on October 14-15. However, as a result of your recent decision and political alliance, we ask you not to attend the Congress. The European Socialist Parties Congress welcomes presentations from progressive parties to share their vision for European policies that are based on our core values, democracy, freedom, equality, peace and justice. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please know that we did not take this decision lightly
