The acting chairman of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj has resigned.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Alibeaj also announced his resignation as Democratic Party's whip.
Alibeaj's decision follows a very poor result achieved by the official Democratic Party in Sunday's local government elections. This party only managed to win 36 thousand votes.
Meanwhile, Alibeaj also added that Sunday's elections had serious problems, including "pressure against public servants and problems with technology".
Alibeaj will continue to act as vice chairman of the Democratic Party and will continue to be part of the party's leadership.
