This Sunday, Albanians are heading to the polls to elect their local government representatives for the next four years.

3,65 million people are eligible to vote on May 14 mayoral elections. 122,545 people will vote for the first time. The list of eligible voters also includes Albanian expats, who can vote only if they travel to the home country and will not be able to vote from abroad.

In most municipalities, the race is between two candidates, those representing the Socialist Party and those representing the opposition coalition. The Democratic Party is only running in 14 municipalities.
