Tirana, November 10, 2024 – As debate continues in Albanian media over which of the country’s key politicians could gain politically from Donald Trump’s re-election in the United States, a new poll suggests a significant portion of Albanian voters see Prime Minister Edi Rama as the likely beneficiary.
The survey, conducted by JAVANEWS, polled over 1,100 adult residents across Albania, using random SMS distribution. Participants shared their thoughts on whether Rama or opposition leader Sali Berisha would benefit more from Trump’s recent re-election. After statistical adjustments, 41.5% of respondents predicted that Rama, known for his diplomatic ties and international profile, would benefit politically from Trump’s return to office.
In contrast, 29.2% believed that Berisha, a longtime figure in Albanian politics with a focus on domestic issues, might see more gains. Meanwhile, 29.3% felt neither leader would gain political ground from Trump’s win.
The poll results follow last year’s mayoral elections, where 800,000 Albanians backed candidates aligned with Rama, 500,000 supported those close to Berisha, 100,000 voted for other candidates, and about 550,000 abstained altogether.
