Tirana, December 27, 2024 — Albania has marked a successful year in foreign diplomacy, according to Foreign Minister Igli Hasani, who outlined the country’s achievements in 2024 and its goals for European Union membership.
In a press conference on Friday, Hasani highlighted Albania's increased engagement at the United Nations and its growing role in global diplomacy. The country also made significant efforts in advancing the interests of Albanians abroad.
A notable development was the holding of two intergovernmental conferences between Albania and the EU, which Hasani described as a key step in the EU accession process. "The year we are leaving behind has been successful for Albania and our diplomacy," Hasani said.
Looking ahead, Albania aims to open all EU membership negotiation chapters by 2025. The goal is to complete technical negotiations by the end of 2027 and to be ready for EU membership by 2030.
Hasani also reaffirmed Albania's strong support for Kosovo, describing it as a national priority. He reiterated the country’s commitment to supporting Kosovo in its dialogue with Serbia and condemned any violence or terrorism in Kosovo.
In addition, Hasani announced plans to open several new embassies in 2025, reflecting Albania’s growing diplomatic engagement on the global stage.
