Albania and EU sign security and defense partnership agreement in Brussels

Dec 18, 2024 - Albania and the European Union have signed a Security and Defense Partnership Agreement, formalizing enhanced cooperation in key security areas. The agreement aims to strengthen joint efforts to combat hybrid and cyber threats, as well as extremism, while enhancing the security and defense capabilities of both parties.

Albanian Foreign Minister Igli Hasani, who is in Brussels for the signing, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. He stressed its potential to contribute to a safer and more resilient Europe through increased collaboration in defense and security operations.

The deal marks a significant step in Albania's deepening ties with the EU and strengthens its role in the region's security framework. With rising concerns over cyber threats and extremist activities, the partnership seeks to address these challenges more effectively and ensure long-term stability in Europe.
