May 15, 2024 — Leaders from the Western Balkans are gearing up to meet with representatives from the European Union and the United States in Kotor, Montenegro, on Thursday, May 16th. The focus of the summit will be the discussion of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Led by Montenegro's Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić, the summit aims to foster collaboration under the theme "One Region, One Vision".
The meeting will commence at 09:30 and among the participants are European Commissioner Oliver Várhelyi and US Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien.
In addition to regional leaders and ministers, various partner organizations such as the Regional Cooperation Council and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will participate.
Preceding the summit, a preparatory meeting of Ministers of European Affairs and Finance from Western Balkans countries will be held.
Recent ministerial meetings in Skopje and Tirana have paved the way for discussions on the Growth Plan, which seeks to allocate six billion euros in grants and loans to accelerate socio-economic alignment with the EU.
