June 23, 2024 - Parliament in North Macedonia has voted in a new government led by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. The government, dominated by the nationalist VMRO-DPMNE party, won the general elections in May by harnessing voter discontent over the slow progress toward European Union membership.
The vote in the 120-seat parliament saw 76 members in favor and 22 against. Mickoski's VMRO-DPMNE party forms the ruling coalition alongside the Albanian alliance VLEN/VREDI and ZNAM, a faction that split from the Social Democrats (SDSM).
