Montenegro supports Kosovo's integration ambitions

"We understand Kosovo's ambitions to join the Council of Europe and to be given the EU candidate status." This was declared today by Montenegro's president, Milo Djukanovic in Podgorica following a meeting he had with his Kosovar counterpart, Vjosa Osmani.

The Kosovar president said that so far, Montenegro has shown clear support for Kosovo in all areas.

"Montenegro and Kosovo are sovereign countries, committed to pursue their EU integration path. We continue to work in order to address all issues concerning our sad past and we will continue in the path of peace and stability," she said.

Meanwhile, the Kosovar president thanked her Montenegrin counterpart for his support and said Montenegro's NATO accession contributed to peace in the region.
