During a Q&A with MPs on Friday, Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti has levelled accusations today against the international community following the tense situation in the north of the country.
The head of the government said the international community recognised the newly-elected Albanian mayors, but forgot, according to him, to provide support for them. The Kosovar PM said the newly-elected mayor had a constitutional obligation to take up office.
"The escalation of the situation was well-planned and Belgrade was behind it," Kurti told MPs.
The situation in northern Kosovo became tense on May 26, when Kosovo police assisted newly-elected Albanian mayors of Serb-majority municipalities to enter the municipality buildings despite the protests of local residents.
